The Jazz/Pop department places particular emphasis on composition, arrangement, playing and live performance. The styles covered are Jazz, Latin, Funk, Rock and Pop. An international team of lecturers is committed to encouraging creativity. They will fire your imagination and inspire you to create your own music. This is achieved through a mixture of classroom instruction, special theme days, workshops, projects and master classes during which students explore a style, a musician or a band, rhythmic patterns or a concept. This provides our students with countless opportunities to become versatile, creative and all-round musicians, capable of developing their own musical ideas and styles.
Maastricht Academy of Music is an internationally-oriented music academy. Maastricht lies at the centre of Europe, within a stone's throw from Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and France. The strategic position of the region offers students countless possibilities to gain valuable experience at prominent performance venues in the Netherlands and abroad. Students, alumni and lecturers regularly produce CDs and DVDs.
