 / Curriculum

Final qualifications centred on 6 domains
The curriculum is aimed at achieving the final qualifications. These are centred on 6 domains:
• artistic and technical development
• personal and professional development
• research skills
• social positioning
• communication and collaboration
• education: deepened methodological, didactical and pedagogical knowledge
(only for those who choose the graduation profile 'performing with the emphasis on education').
Lecturers
There is no need for students to merely study 'indoors'. We will enable you to take lessons with other lecturers and external professionals. Would you like to be taught by that famous teacher in Paris? In principle, that is possible! Within our own institution, however, we also have countless highly qualified lecturers who would be happy to teach you.
At least 50% of the main subject lessons must be taken with the main subject teacher from your own institution. On top of these, you may have additional lessons internally and externally. There is financial support available for participation in international masterclasses and international orientation.
Lessons
You will, of course, have individual main subject lessons. In addition, there will be ensemble activities (chamber music, combos, ensembles, orchestral projects). There will also be time for international orientation (masterclasses abroad, summer courses, Erasmus activities). You will be offered further opportunities with Dutch professional orchestras, choirs and opera companies.
International
Apart from the Dutch students, many foreign students have now found their way to the collaborative Fontys and Zuyd University for the Arts alliance and its Master's degree programme. The international nature of the programme enables students to gain many new contacts and learn from each other.
In short: the Master of Music is a wonderful opportunity to keep developing your talent, determine the course of your own studies, acquire research skills and gain a lot of (international) experience! We guarantee a high-quality graduation level: your springboard to a great career in professional music!
