Classical Music / Bachelor and Master
 / Specialization

From Year 3, students can start specializing. In addition to the core curriculum (70% of your study), your emphasis will be on chamber music, solo and/or orchestral performance.  For example, students electing to specialize in chamber music will receive extra tuition in chamber music, while those focusing on solo and/or orchestral performance will attend extra orchestral training. Students studying solo vocals can elect to specialize in concert work or opera performance. The emphasis will be on extra vocal tutorials or opera co-repetition and conducting.
Free Minor

The Free Minor (free elective) comprises 18 credits and constitutes approximately 15% of the degree programme. These 18 credits or ECs can be divided across different activities. If you wish to obtain a teaching qualification, you will be required to dedicate the full 15% of your free elective to teacher training.

Examples of Free Minor electives:

  • Obtaining a teaching qualification (Music in Education)
  • Participating in workshops and master classes.
  • Recording a CD or DVD.
  • Participating in special projects organized by Maastricht Academy of Music.
