In accordance with the requirements of all art faculties, you will be required to take an admission examination before a final decision on admission can be made. Apart from General Admission Requirements you need to comply with Specific Admission Requirements (which are different for every main subject - see links Classical Music, Jazz/Pop and Music in Education).

Admission Examination Music in Education

The Music in Education admission exam consists of the following components:

  • written examination and theoretical knowledge of music. This two-hour exam is usually held in the first week of May.
  • theoretical component (aural skills and solfège), 30 minutes. 
  • practical component (instrument playing, singing and short interview), 30 minutes
  • competency-specific component (two 45-minute workshops dedicated to playing together, communication and movement)

The last 3 components are held over one day in the first week of June. These guidelines apply to the Music in Art Education and Special Music Education areas of Specialization. You may be admitted onto the Preparatory Year, Year 1 or onto a more advanced level. You will be notified of the results in writing and by telephone within a few days.
