The Music in Education programme prepares well-rounded music students for teaching positions in primary education, secondary education, certain forms of higher professional education, special education, institutes for education and the Arts and on behalf of help and service providers. In Years 1 and 2, the course provides a broad programme of study, encompassing teaching programmes, projects and work placements. Further details are provided in the table below.
A fair portion of the curriculum is devoted to the "ten-week structure”, which is a theme-based programme of activities. Each ten-week period is concluded with a project week. During this week, the student's professional aptitude and development are channelled and evaluated. This theme-based approach is supplemented with a linear curriculum, a continuous programme of study. This applies in particular to the instrumental/vocal education and music theory components.
